About Me

Rachelle's journey with poetry all started with a slam her friend entered her in, Tunbridge Well's Word Up!, in 2016, wherein she performed and won. Since then she has graced stages in Brighton, London, Nottingham, Dublin, and Barcelona, headlining shows such as Hammer and Tongue, Cellar Door BCN, Speech Therapy, Hockley Hustle, Bad Betty Live, and Duende Sessions. Her work has been published in magazines For Women Who Roar, the PoENtry Slam collections, Nottingham's Word Walk zines, and GOB's Full Moon & Earth showcase zines.

Her debut poetry pamphlet, Orchid, was published by Big White Shed in April 2025.

She is an active member of Nottingham's poetry scene, being a second-generation GOBS Collective member and completing three cohort masterclass courses with them, culminating in three showcases, the first online and for Notts TV and in collaboration with Casey Bailey, the second at Non Such Studios and the third at Nottingham Playhouse. Her poetry has delighted listeners of BBC Radio Nottingham. One of her biggest achievements to date is having won PoENtry Slam's year-long poetry tournament in Barcelona, ending in 2020.

Having had a lot of experience in the art of spoken word, Rachelle decided to pass the baton of inspiration by running spoken word workshops for organisers such as Sugar Stealers and Young Creative Awards Nottingham. She has experience mentoring both adults and kids.

Rachelle has also been an English as a Foreign Language Teacher. She is TrinityCertTESOL certified, having completed her course with TEFL Iberia at the end of 2018. For the duration of 2019, she worked full-time at What's Up! Living English academy based at their Badalona site, and she has also taught refugees preparing for their IELTS exams with Nottingham Trent University's STAR (Students in Action for Refugees) programme. Additionally, Rachelle worked as an Online English Teacher for British Council in 2024.

In the summer of 2024, Rachelle received a First Class grade for her BA (Hons) degree course in English Literature and TESOL at Nottingham Trent University. She has since worked as a Teaching Assistant in an SEN school and is currently working as an Academic Learning Mentor for literacy at an SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Nottingham.
